They Rocked the Pavilion off it’s foundation July 30, 2005 in Jacksonville.

Mouse The Boys & Brass in only their second public performance in over 35 years proved yet again that their music and show are at least as good as they were back in the ‘60s and the standing room only crowd of their fans at the Ramona Pavilion showed their appreciation with their cheers and applause after every song the band played.

With an audience in excess of 1000 old rockers the dance floor was packed from the time Mouse and his Boys took the stage until the final note of their encore.

In keeping with their traditional “blue eyed soul” style they began the night with a medley of Hold on I’m Coming and Soul Man and finished the evening with two James Brown classic favorites, This is A Man’s World and I Feel Good.

In between they gave the audience three tight sets of ‘60s rock & roll magic and the more love and excitement that the crowd gave to the band the more inspired the Boys seemed to get and their energy and show never let up even though the Pavilion air conditioning had problems and the temperature on stage was well into the upper 90s.

The guys knew there were a lot of people there but only when they stepped on stage for the first time and saw that huge mass of people and all of them cheering and applauding did they begin to realize that something very special was about to happen.

How exciting and humbling it was for them to realize that every one of those people were there to hear and see them play and recreate that unique dance and party they were known for so many years ago

I can testify to the feelings The Boys felt when they stepped on that stage because I am one of them. I stand in the back and blow a trumpet along with Frank and Mel. All of us in the band want to thank all of our fans and friends that remembered and believed and came even from thousands of miles away just to see and hear us one more time. It was those people that made every second of that night so special to all of us on stage.

Our goal was to recreate as close as possible the exact same sound and style and show that made us the number one band in N. Florida and South to Central Georgia in the ‘60s and from all we have heard from those that were there with us that night that our effort was a success and all of our very hard work had paid off.

Our Pavilion show included something new for Mouse and The Boys which was a patriotic medley originally done by Elvis Presley called the Trilogy. An old friend of the band, Lindsay Swida said afterward “during American Trilogy I felt the earth move.  It was that awesome.” Everyone there stood and sang along and Pete, “The Voice”, did such a magnificent job he received a prolonged standing ovation. Even Elvis would have been proud.

Finally, our most heartfelt thanks to all of those wonderful fans and friends who have helped us make Rockin' The Pavilion not only possible but a huge success. I will remember that night forever.
